             The daughter of an old friend of my mom's got married  in mid september and had a low key reception in a local park. Randomly it happened to coincide with my first Saturday off in what seemed like forever. I figured it'd probably be pretty casual, and I was definitely over dressed, but I wanted to dress up a little and I finally had an occasion to wear this top. I couldn't resist.  It was too cold to wear just the top so I threw my favorite fall/winter cardi on top. I seriously need more cashmere in my life, but it's soo expensive. I mean on J crew it's almost $200.00 for one sweater, way out of my price range. I guess I'll have to keep a look out at the thrifts. Anyway I love this look, I've worn it a few times since and I always feel good in it. I also love any occasion when I can sport my favorite necklace.  I seriously need more events to wear my "fancier" clothes.

      Sorry for the impromptu blogging hiatus! November was kind of a busy month for me with the election, my birthday, thanksgiving, work and a serious lack of sun I just haven't been able to get outfit pictures done. But I'm back, promise! I've got a bunch of outfits to show you, some from way back in September, so things should be up and running around here this month! Now onto the outfit post!

     
        Recently my favorite pair of skinny jeans died and since Old Navy was having a sale on their Rock Star skinny jeans (really their more like jeggings) I decided I'd go and stock up. I got three pairs all for 19.00 (each) and I have to say they're kind of my favorite. They are so comfortable! I got a pair in black, dark blue, and slightly lighter dark blue. They come in a bunch of colors but for some reason none of the colors were really getting me. I'm just not that into the colored denim trend, although I could definitely go for some oxblood jeans. I've been wanting a pair of black jeans for a while and am totally in love with these. While trying to think of tops to wear with them I remembered this shirt which I've only worn  a few times. Most of my jeans are the same color as this shirt and the same color denim on denim is kind of a fashion no-no (not that that should stop you!), but with the black jeans I could finally wear this top with pants. I have to say I really love this outfit. It's fun, cute and simple. Definitely one of my favorite recent outfits.

Sorry I fail at being bipartisan today

No outfit post today, but I'm rocking my I voted sticker!

       So if you're a US citizen today is the day to VOTE! So far I haven't gotten too political on this blog, but it is my blog and I am a strong believer is many a political cause. As this is a fashion blog there probably won't be a lot of political posts, but today is an important day and as a fairly political person I had to do a little political post. Personally I am a democrat and fervent Obama supporter and will definitely be voting Obama today. I'd urge you to do the same, especially if you're a woman, but more importantly think about what's important to you and vote for whomever aligns with those issues. Also, if you're in MN I'd also urge you to VOTE NO on the marriage amendment and voter restriction. Let's not limit anyone's right to marriage or put unnecessary, expensive, and unknown provisions on who can vote.

Halloween Costume Ideas

Hey guys! Sorry my posting has been rather sporadic lately, it's been due in part to my social life temporarily becoming more interesting and light being in short supply around these parts. I promise i'll try to get my butt in gear and do more outfit posts. I have at least 4 to post! Anyway since Halloween is just around the corner, I figured i'd do a few Halloween costume idea posts for you and yours.

1. Betty Boop. Somebody once told I looked like Betty Boop, I'm still not sure if that's a compliment or not. I never really understood Betty, to be honest, but she sure is an easy costume! All you need for this costume is a strapless red dress, Gold accessories (especially gold hoop earrings), black pumps and a garter. Do your make up super sexy, pop on a Betty wig, and Bam! you're Betty Boop, girl.

2. Honey Boo Boo. I've never been good at pop culture costumes, for some reason my extensive knowledge of pop culture seems to vacate my brain every year when trying to come up with a costume. But with the crazy redneck fun of Honey Boo Boo it's hard not to notice this gold mine of a Halloween costume. Grab a pink prom dress from the thrift store ( cut hem as needed), grab yourself a blonde curly wig, pink bow, frilly socks, white flats and your ever important go-go juice and take the night by storm, honey boo boo chile.

3. River Song.  This one's for the nerds, y'all. As you know i've recently become sucked in to the tardis and am huge Doctor Who fan now. While trying to think of a good costume that would work with curly hair suddenly I had it, River Song!! River is Amy and Rory's daughter (spoilers!) , she's the doctors wife (I think),  an archeologist (sweetie), kinda crazy  and amazing! She's definitely one of my favorite characters on the show.  One of my favorite River outfits is the one below, so i decided to go with that one, but there are plenty of other options to choose from if you want to be Melody Pond for all hallows eve.

4. Psy. Who doesn't love Psy? I mean you have to be dead if you hear that song and don't smile a little. Psy is also a pretty easy and fun costume. If you're like me and you already have black pants and white button down all you need is a bow tie, sunglasses, blue blazer and oxfords. There are a ton of great costume ideas from that video so if Psy isn't you cup of tea you can always be random guy in yellow suit, pelvic thrusting cowboy or one of his many backup dancers. Sexy Lady!

          Last saturday I participated in the 8th Zombie Pub Crawl. It was definitely an experience. The shuttle experience was less than stellar but it was pretty  fun. I don't know if i'd go again unless I had a friend that really wanted to go, but I'm glad I went. I didn't take many pictures there (just the one) and was running late to meet my friend so I didn't end up taking outfit photos. So these myspaceian bathroom mirror pics of me looking like hot mess housewife zombie will have to do for now. I promise at the beginning of the night my makeup was better and I had an extra "wound" on my neck. I was a 50's style zombie housewife, if you were wondering.

                  I wore this to my internship yesterday. I  just thought it up on the fly and I have to say I kind of like it, Sort of subtle pattern mixing. I should have some more outfits coming soon, I just have to take pictures of them.
